1. How to import bank and credit card statements

Monvelio features a native parser supporting four standard banking formats: OFX (Open Financial Exchange), QFX (Quicken format), CAMT.053 XML (ISO 20022), and QIF.

  • Log into your bank's online portal and download your transactions in OFX, QFX, or QIF format.
  • In Monvelio on your Mac, navigate to Banking ▸ Import Statement (or press Cmd+I).
  • Drag and drop your statement file. Monvelio automatically matches counterparties to existing ledger accounts and highlights zero-variance balances.

2. Restoring Pro subscriptions on a new Mac or iPhone

Subscriptions are tied directly to your Apple Account and can be shared across all your family devices:

  • Ensure you are signed in to the same Apple Account in macOS System Settings or iOS Settings.
  • Open Monvelio and navigate to Settings ▸ Monvelio Pro.
  • Click or tap Restore Purchases. Apple will securely re-validate your receipt and restore your Pro features immediately.

3. Enabling iCloud CloudKit synchronization

iCloud sync is optional and turned off by default to guarantee complete offline data residency:

  • Open Monvelio on both devices (Mac and iPhone/iPad).
  • Go to Settings ▸ Data & Sync ▸ iCloud Sync.
  • Toggle Enable iCloud CloudKit Sync to ON.
  • Your local database will be mirrored to your private Apple CloudKit database container. Only devices signed in with your personal Apple Account have the keys to decrypt and view the ledger.

4. Creating CPA Year-End Handoff Packages

Save your corporate accountant hours of manual work at fiscal year-end:

  • Navigate to Reports ▸ CPA Year-End Package.
  • Select your fiscal year (e.g., Fiscal 2026 ending Dec 31).
  • Click Export CPA Package. Monvelio bundles your balanced Trial Balance, General Ledger journal entries, CRA Schedule 8 Capital Cost Allowance (CCA) schedule, and T2 GIFI 125 mapping into a timestamped, professional ZIP archive.

5. Managing Encrypted Database Backups

We strongly recommend creating regular backups:

  • Navigate to Settings ▸ Backup & Storage.
  • Click Create Encrypted Backup Archive. Monvelio creates a password-protected, AES-256-GCM encrypted snapshot of your SQLite database.
  • Store this archive on an external drive, encrypted USB, or secure cold storage.
